Registered Nurse - Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a leading research and clinical care institution focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Located in Seattle, our organization is recognized for its groundbreaking work in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy, and COVID-19 vaccines.

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary care team as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator. This role involves providing patient-centric care and is responsible for nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Develop personalized plans of care based on patients' disease, symptoms, and treatment response.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on disease processes, treatment options, and symptom management.
  • Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Refer patients, families, and caregivers to other clinical resources and professionals as needed.
Direct Patient Care:
  • Provide education on chemotherapy, central lines, injections, and home care.
  • Manage telephone and email symptom triage.
  • Perform dressing changes, medication administration, and injections.
  • Facilitate new patient orientation and caregiver support.
  • Assess patients' needs for additional supportive care resources.
  • Process prescription refills and review results.
Indirect Patient Care:
  • Coordinate supportive care referrals and FMLA paperwork.
  • Ensure continuity of care with outside providers.
  • Collaborate with the research team for patients on trial.
Professional Development and Clinic Engagement:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights.
  • Participate in continuing education, departmental projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
