Firewall Engineer Job Description

At Five Iron LLC, we are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Firewall Specialist to join our growing Security Operations Center (SOC) team in Franklin, Tennessee. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with next-generation firewalls, including Barracuda, Juniper, Cisco, Check Point, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.

Responsibilities:

• Implement and maintain firewalls, staying updated on security vulnerabilities and their impact on the network.
• Perform ongoing optimization of network security devices to ensure adequate capacity, availability, and scalability.
• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and document network security infrastructures and related systems.
• Participate in the Change Management process, including creating new change requests, reviewing submitted change forms, and implementing firewall changes.
• Modify firewall rule sets, change policies, whitelist, content filter, and troubleshoot issues by studying network traffic flows, locking down applications, and troubleshooting firewalls, routers, and switches.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Security or a related field with a minimum of five years of cybersecurity experience, or a minimum of seven years of experience in a related field.
• Minimum five years of Information Security Firewall Architecture experience.
• Extensive knowledge of data security practices and systems, including NIST and ISO.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as excellent time management skills.
