Job Summary:

MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to work in the Nuclear Medicine departments at the facilities in Augusta and Waterville, as well as in the PET department at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care.

The manager for this position empowers staff to be creative problem solvers and think independently while working together to provide the highest quality of patient care.

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders, educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient understanding and cooperation.
  • Orders, prepares, administers, stores, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals and/or medications according to established protocols and applicable regulations/standards.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies, selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters, implements safety standards, and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures, analyzes results, and identifies issues with image quality.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A current State of Maine License for Radiological Technology/Nuclear Medicine.
  • Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications.
