Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Paramedic to join our team at Lifespan. As a Critical Care Paramedic, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in emergency situations, conducting research and training, and assisting in the development of patient care protocols and methods.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive and effective patient care in emergency situations, including critical care transport and incident scenes.
  • Conduct research and training in emergency medical care, including the development of patient care protocols and methods.
  • Assist in the design and conduct of experiments, including enrollment of study subjects and data collection.
  • Participate in training and education of emergency care personnel, including curricula development and simulation-based training.
  • Maintain clinical skills and knowledge base, including patient assessment, medication administration, and airway management.
  • Perform public education, marketing, and outreach, and maintain a positive attitude towards patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Retrieve, stock, and clean medical equipment, and maintain a clean operational environment.
  • Report to remote locations for duty, respond to emergencies and disasters, and perform data entry and clerical assistance.
Requirements
  • Current State of Rhode Island EMT-Paramedic license with a minimum of five years field EMS experience.
  • Current Paramedic certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications, with instructor status preferred.
  • CCEMTP and/or FP-C, ATLS, BTLS, PHTLS, and NRP certifications preferred.
  • Valid and current driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Nursing, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and comprehend the English language without restriction.
Work Environment

The Critical Care Paramedic will work in a variable environment, including in and out-of-hospital emergency care situations, with exposure to unknown substances and/or risks, ill and injured patients, and training environments. The position requires travel in vehicles, including ambulances and aircraft, and may involve working in disaster situations.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.
