Job Title: Building Plans Examiner

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Plans Examiner to join our team at the Idaho Division of Human Resources. As a Building Plans Examiner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of buildings in Idaho.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with state and local building codes and regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders on building code requirements.
  • Prepare and present training sessions on building code requirements and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure consistency and compliance with building codes and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Current certification as a Building Plans Examiner and Residential Plans Examiner.
  • Experience in building code enforcement and inspection.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations, including the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Experience in supervisory or lead roles.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles and design practices.
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and other building information modeling (BIM) tools.
