Behavioral Health Training Specialist

The Training and Development Facilitator - Behavioral Health Professions is responsible for training, coaching, and developing early career behavioral health professionals for Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center's behavioral health workforce and professional development program(s). This position also provides training and coaching to established SEMHC team members to ensure parity in knowledge and skill level to graduates of SEMHC's workforce and professional development programs(s).
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator - Behavioral Health Professions to evaluate, develop, and grow workforce and professional development programs for SEMHC.
- Embracing the Recovery Model, including AIDET and motivational interviewing, to provide training and coaching to early career behavioral health professionals and established SEMHC team members.
- Develop and implement training programs, including group discussions and group processes, to ensure parity in knowledge and skill level to graduates of SEMHC's workforce and professional development programs(s).
- Identify and utilize appropriate methods of instruction with an emphasis on adult learning techniques to train and coach early career behavioral health professionals and established SEMHC team members.
- Assist with workforce development program student placements and identify gaps in professional development for current team members.
- Represent SEMHC workforce development program(s) at public speaking engagements and recruitment fairs.
- Bachelor's degree in social work (BSW) with two (2) years' post-graduate experience required; master's degree in social work (MSW) with two (2) years' post graduate experience preferred.
- Valid Indiana behavioral health and human services license required based on the highest level of education achieved.
- Experience with facilitating group training with five (5) to twenty-five (25) participants.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of pedagogy that best trains adult learners of various backgrounds, education, and experiences in a fast-paced, potentially high-stress environment.
- Knowledge of mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Knowledge of common mental health and/or substance use practice in community settings.
- Skills in various information technology systems, including Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to function independently, possesses strong decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to show flexibility in retooling learning programs and teaching style to accommodate needs of adult learners.
Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center's primary mission is to serve individuals with serious mental illness and chronic addiction as well as seriously emotionally disturbed children and their families. Patients of all ages are welcomed, from children to seniors, with a philosophy of care that stresses strength-based and family- and community-centered treatment utilizing the Recovery Model of treatment.
