Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the administration of special TAG programs for screening, referral, identification, and placement of TAG students.
  • Adapt classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans.
  • Administer developmental testing programs and/or subject-specific assessments to assess student competency levels and develop individual learning plans.
  • Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress, communicate expectations, and develop methods for improvement.
  • Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals, and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve established classroom objectives.
  • Counsel students to improve performance, health status, problem-solving techniques, and personal issues.
  • Demonstrate methods required to perform classroom and/or subject-specific assignments to provide an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
  • Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address individual student needs.
  • Facilitate student learning to achieve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined lesson plan.
  • Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment, model conversation, manners, clean-up activities, listening skills, etc.
  • Monitor students in various educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Organize age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student participation in learning activities.
  • Participate in meetings to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
  • Prepare written materials, such as grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc., to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
  • Report incidents, such as fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc., to maintain student safety and adhere to Education Code and school policies.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries from various sources to resolve issues, provide information, and/or direction.
  • Support classroom teachers to assist in implementing established curriculum and/or individual student plans.

Requirements:

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.
  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
