Job Summary:

The Colorado Judicial Branch seeks a highly skilled and experienced legal professional to serve as a Supervising Legal Research Attorney. This key role will oversee a team of Legal Research Attorneys, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure the delivery of exceptional legal services to the judicial district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of Legal Research Attorneys, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality work.
  • Research and analyze complex legal issues presented by parties during litigation, providing expert advice to judges and the district.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure consistency in work processes and communication.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of new staff, providing input into the disciplinary and dismissal processes.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Judge on special projects, including grand jury, policy review, complex cases, and researching/drafting Chief Judge Orders.
  • Administer the timely distribution of legal assignments from judicial officers, including organization and tracking of pending legal assignments.
  • Work with Court Administration on special projects, BBPs, and Administrative Orders.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited law school and possession of a certificate of admission to the Bar of the State of Colorado.
  • Eligibility to practice law before the courts of the State of Colorado and two years of experience in the practice of law.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Working Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. This position is subject to varying and unpredictable situations, may handle emergency or crisis situations, is subject to many interruptions, and may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously.
