A Day in the Life

As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will layout, fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products and equipment associated with commercial HVAC systems. You will work on large construction projects, including hospitals, data centers, high-rises, universities, and government facilities.

Requirements

  • Work experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic for commercial construction projects (Journeyman level experience preferred)
  • Experience with layouts and ability to read and work from drawings
  • Ability to direct the work of a helper or apprentice
  • Safety-minded and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
  • Initiative, self-motivation, and knowledge of basic construction/shop math
  • Knowledge of International Mechanical Code (IMC) and Sheet Metal and Air Contractors National Association (SMACNA) standards
