Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team at Northwest Talent Solutions LLC. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical direction and supervision to a team of engineers and designers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil/structural engineering, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant industrial experience. You will be responsible for reviewing and approving civil/structural deliverables, validating professional service and construction estimates, and producing professional service estimates in accordance with department standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and approving civil/structural deliverables
  • Validating professional service and construction estimates
  • Producing professional service estimates
  • Establishing design criteria and scope of work
  • Planning and organizing the work of your team
  • Maintaining control of projects
  • Delegating work to engineers and designers
  • Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines
  • Producing estimate level preliminary designs and material takeoffs
  • Developing conceptual layouts and cost studies
  • Familiarity with company design and drafting standards
  • Producing detail design calculations and sketches
  • Producing project designs with efficient use of construction materials
  • Checking calculations made by other engineers
  • Producing construction specifications
  • Monitoring drawings in progress
  • Assisting the drafting group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems
  • Reviewing and checking vendor drawings and other discipline drawings
  • Producing bid packages
  • Participating in the planning of training programs and professional development of staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional registration is highly preferred
  • 15 or more years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural engineering
  • Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment
  • Ability to create accurate civil/structural documents from vendor equipment drawings
  • Ability to develop civil/structural specifications
  • Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks
  • Ability to develop a construction cost estimate, detailed engineering schedule, and manhour budget
  • Ability to determine construction material quantities
  • Complete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform engineering and design functions
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, Microstation, or both)
  • Ability to lead teams to deliver on commitments
  • Ability to deliver convincing presentations of our clients value proposition
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Virtual team skills and relationships
