Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Casualty Underwriter to join our Midwest/Central Region team based in Chicago or Houston. The ideal candidate will have 5-15 years of Casualty underwriting experience, with a strong understanding of the construction industry and its challenges.

About the Role

This role focuses on working with large construction accounts, expanding and developing new business opportunities through production and marketing calls with brokers and clients. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with loss control, claims, and legal teams to evaluate risk and provide solutions to customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and growing the Construction Casualty book of business, including primary, lead umbrella, and excess on both practice and project business.
  • Establishing, developing, and expanding broker and customer relationships in the Midwest/Central Region.
  • Working closely with loss control, claims, and legal teams to evaluate risk and provide solutions to customers.

The successful candidate will have excellent underwriting acumen, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. They will also be able to travel up to 20% of the time.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • 5-15 years of Casualty underwriting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong underwriting acumen and analytical skills.
  • Existing broker and customer relationships in the Midwest/Central Region.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.

We estimate the salary for this role to be around $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
