We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmology Assistant to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As an Ophthalmology Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in their daily activities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient workups, including obtaining histories, reviewing systems, and performing various ophthalmic tests.
- Assist physicians with EMR entry and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Coordinate daily schedules, liaise with physicians and staff, and provide patient education.
- Perform phlebotomy for imaging, maintain human-subjects research records, and assist with minor office surgery.
- Train and certify ophthalmic assistants in clinic routine and standard ophthalmic procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in ophthalmology or a related field; certification as an ophthalmic assistant or technician a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
