About the Role
We are seeking an HR Manager to join our team at Covanta. This role will provide HR generalist support in the areas of employee relations, policy development and administration, performance management, staffing and training & development to the leadership teams and employees within the assigned facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Counsel facility managers on employee relation issues through the consistent and equitable application of company policies and procedures.
- Manage recruitment efforts within the assigned facilities, partner with facility managers to assess workforce planning needs, and determine recruitment strategies for open and future roles.
- Provide support and guidance to managers in the areas of compensation, compliance, talent development, succession planning, performance management, retention strategies, effective record-keeping and general HR related issues.
- Deliver corporate HR initiatives and programs effectively throughout the area.
- Assist in the development, implementation and communication of company policies and procedures.
- Create an environment of positive employee relations, balance business needs with employee needs, establish trust and credibility with employees, and be seen as approachable and fair.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant HR experience, preferably in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or HR, PHR or SPHR preferred.
- Self-starter with a creative approach to implementing HR practices, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision, and independently prioritize workload effectively.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Strong knowledge of employment/labor law and progressive HR practices.
- Experience with Workday a plus.
- Knowledge of Lean Principles a plus.
- Ability to travel when needed.
