Job Description:

The Occupational Therapist will provide high-quality care to patients referred for services by a licensed physician. As a member of the Rehabilitation team, you will be responsible for initiating patient care through evidence-based assessment and documentation in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR).

The ideal candidate will submit a detailed plan of care to the referring provider for approval and signature within 24 hours of completing evaluation. Daily treatment charges must be submitted accurately in the EMR. You will also maintain treatment records, statistical data, and patient schedules for patients referred for treatment.

A key aspect of this role is monitoring patient progress and adjusting the treatment plan as needed or making recommendations for referrals. You will supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) in the care of patients and provide education to enhance their clinical skills.

Maintaining a safe environment is crucial, and you will continuously observe all equipment in the department for hazards to ensure patient safety. A positive attitude and effective interpersonal relationships are essential for promoting the hospital's image.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an approved school with active licensure in Arkansas.
  • Successful completion of an accredited college program in Occupational Therapy including clinical experience and up-to-date CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated competence in leadership skills, rehabilitation principles, and procedures, along with age-specific knowledge and skills necessary for patient care.

This position requires excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing. The individual must be able to report to work fit for duty and free from any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.

Physical demands include considerable physical work, requiring the ability to lift, bend, reach, or stoop without restrictions to transfer patients or equipment. The individual will assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment. Visual and auditory skills are necessary for interpreting environmental input, and a significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.
