Job Summary

The Texas Water Development Board seeks a highly skilled and experienced Regional Flood Planning and Program Development Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for coordinating and managing flood planning grant contracts, providing technical assistance to regional flood planning groups, and developing regional flood plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in flood planning, hydrology, and engineering, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage planning contracts for regional flood planning and related studies
  • Provide technical assistance to regional flood planning groups
  • Develop and implement flood planning policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and regional flood planning groups
  • Prepare and evaluate information and reports
  • Participate in technical, policy, and interagency planning meetings
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in City or Regional Planning, Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Economics, Geography, or Public Administration
  • 2 years of experience in planning-related work, engineering, hydrology, or public administration
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to flood planning
  • Strong communication and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in City or Regional Planning, Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, or Public Administration
  • 2 years of professional experience in flood-related planning, mitigation, response, or recovery
  • Engineer in Training Certification
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer by the State of Texas
