Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Soliant.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities such as autism, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, and other special education needs. This role requires a commitment to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Planning and Delivery:
    • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring that each plan is tailored to the students unique needs.
    • Provide individualized instruction and support to students with a variety of disabilities in both general education and special education settings.
    • Adapt and modify the general curriculum to meet the needs of students, including designing appropriate learning activities and assessments.
    • Use a variety of teaching strategies and interventions to ensure that students are engaged and progressing academically.
  • Classroom Management:
    • Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment that encourages students social and emotional development.
    • Use proactive behavior management techniques to prevent disruptive behavior and maintain an organized and respectful classroom.
    • Collaborate with other educators, staff, and families to develop strategies for students' behavioral and academic success.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    • Regularly assess student progress toward IEP goals and academic standards, using both formal and informal assessment methods.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, IEP goals, and other required documentation.
    • Adjust instruction based on data collected and participate in IEP meetings to provide feedback and collaborate on goal setting.
  • Collaboration with Team Members:
    • Work closely with other special education teachers, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and school staff to coordinate services for students.
    • Attend IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions as required.
    • Collaborate with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and discuss strategies to support learning at home and in the classroom.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies related to special education.
    • Maintain complete, organized, and accurate records for each student in accordance with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) guidelines and school district policies.
    • Prepare and submit required reports, including progress reports, attendance, and other necessary documentation.
  • Professional Development:
    • Continuously seek professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education, instructional strategies, and educational technology.
    • Participate in school and district-level professional learning communities and training.
Requirements:
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience teaching students with disabilities in a K-12 setting is preferred.
    • Experience developing and implementing IEPs and using data to drive instructional decisions is a plus.
    • Experience working with students with various disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, and learning disabilities.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
    • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community partners.
    • Proficient in using technology and educational software tools for lesson planning, instruction, and data tracking.
Salary:

$25-$30 per hour depending on experience.
