Job Summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Safety Specialist to join our team.

This role will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for employees, patients, and visitors by conducting regular inspections, investigating incidents, and providing training and guidance on safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational safety and health, with experience in conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and developing safety protocols.

They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

This is a security-sensitive position, and the selected candidate will be required to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of work areas to identify potential safety hazards and develop corrective actions to mitigate risks
  • Investigate incidents and near-miss events to identify root causes and develop recommendations for prevention
  • Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety protocols and procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a safe working environment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field or equivalent experience
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and OSHA 501 certifications
  • Strong background in occupational safety and health
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
