Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Library Manager to join our team at Brown County, WI. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our library system, including coordinating, planning, directing, supervising, and evaluating the activities, spaces, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Management
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the library system
  • Schedule and assign work for direct reports
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance
  • Communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders
Customer Service
  • Provide excellent customer service to library patrons
  • Meet customers' needs for information and resources
  • Recommend books and other resources based on customer preferences
  • Use library technology to check materials in and out and provide customer service
Program Development and Implementation
  • Develop and implement Brown County Library-wide initiatives
  • Attend library meetings and training to maintain knowledge base
  • Compile information for operational reports
  • Analyze data to evaluate program success
Community Relations
  • Build and maintain community relationships through networking and outreach
  • Strengthen community contacts and promote library services
  • Act as a liaison to community groups and organizations
Requirements
  • A master's degree in Library Science/Information Science from an ALA-accredited college or university, plus two years of professional library experience
  • Or a bachelor's degree plus five years of professional library experience
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of leadership, supervisory, and personnel management techniques
  • Knowledge of current and developing technologies as they relate to public library operations and services
  • Ability to hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline employees
  • Effectively administer and interpret library policies and procedures
