Special Education Teacher Position in Sarasota

We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2024/2025 school year.
About the RoleThis position offers a unique opportunity to work with students of varying abilities and needs. As a Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement personalized lesson plans tailored to each student's requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating engaging and effective educational programs that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Adapting curriculum to meet Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and accommodate different abilities.
- Maintaining regular communication with parents, providing progress updates and collaborating on strategies to support student learning at home.
- Establishing a well-organized, safe, and positive learning environment that fosters academic growth and social development.
- Implementing strategies to manage behavior and ensure a productive classroom atmosphere.
- Providing individualized and group instruction, utilizing specialized techniques to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities.
- Assessing and tracking student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to ensure optimal results.
- Modifying curriculum and materials according to IEP goals and ensuring compliance with special education regulations.
- Conducting evaluations and maintaining accurate records of student progress.
- Collaborating with educators and specialists to support student success and share best practices in special education.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from an accredited institution.
- A valid Florida Educator Certification in Exceptional Student Education.
- Knowledge of core academic subjects and curriculum, as well as the ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and policies affecting special education.
- At least one year of teaching experience with students having various disabilities, including those with behavior disorders and other learning and cognitive delays, is preferred.
