**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at AdventHealth Central Florida. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing various laboratory procedures in assigned areas.

**Your Role**

You will be responsible for performing analytical testing of blood and/or human biological specimens, following laboratory policies and procedures, and maintaining quality control practices. You will also actively participate in outstanding customer service and maintain relationships that are respectful to all.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Perform pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, including general and analytical equipment maintenance, function checks, and documentation; inventory control and supply stocking, specimen collection as needed; biological specimen processing; cleaning and disinfection of selected or assigned laboratory equipment and spaces; quality control and calibration performance;
  • Perform all expected tests and analytical procedures for assigned department or work area efficiently and accurately, according to established procedures, performance standards, and departmental competency standards;
  • Participate in proficiency testing, consistently adhering to federal and state regulations as well as Institutional policies;
  • Report results (including highly abnormal results) in accordance with established procedures;
  • Provide and act on technical and support information related to the elements of laboratory testing for all age groups, neonatal through geriatric patients;
  • Provide orientation and training to new employees and medical technology students as needed, under the direction of the lab leadership;

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, biological sciences, or a related field. In licensure states, Laboratory Licensure in an appropriate specialty(ies) for the department or location assignment is required. In non-licensure states, national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist is required unless grandfathered per state requirement.

**Benefits**
