Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Physical Security Systems and Project Management is a critical role at St. John's University, responsible for overseeing the functionality of all critical security systems and projects across all University campuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing a short- and long-term physical security roadmap, identifying weaknesses and misconfigurations, and coordinating remediation plans with Public Safety senior leadership.
  • Manage the Technical Support Specialist, the PS Safety Systems Analyst, and the Graduate Assistant and student workers on special assignment to the physical security team.
  • Coordinate the installation and maintenance of physical security infrastructure, including card readers, electronic locks, digital video surveillance cameras, and control panels.
  • Initiate and maintain working relationships with colleagues from all SJU business units to meet the objectives of the Department of Public Safety and the University.
  • Manage vendor relationships with department partners that provide service and support to the Physical Security Program of SJU.
  • Conduct regular audits of the systems and their functions to ensure quality, consistency, and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and/or certifications such as PMP.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Project Management, with progressive responsibilities in life cycle activities, including project planning, risk assessment, resource management, estimating and monitoring costs, quality management, and project contract management.
  • Knowledge and extensive usage of Lenel OnGuard, Kronos, Genetic Security Center, Kronos Workforce Management, T2 Enforcement, and Audiolog Call Recording Software.

Working Conditions:

This position operates in a professional office environment and outdoors as needed. The ability to carry equipment up to 50 lbs is sometimes required.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local and may include visits to other NY campuses; some travel is out-of-area and overnight travel may be required for training.
