Job Summary

As a Senior Speech Language Pathologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in the management of members under the direction and supervision of the Rehabilitation Manager. This position requires a high level of expertise and leadership skills to consistently support compliance and the Principles of Responsibility by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to the applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements, and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides direct member care through a variety of modalities, including in-person, telephonic, and/or video-based services.
  • Provides consultation and mentoring to the Speech therapy staff in their specific area of specialization.
  • Provides education to speech therapists through formal and informal education in their specific specialty.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care to members who require their expertise.
  • Acts as a consultant to staff members for the management of patients and is a resource for on-going, professional development of the staff in their specialty.
  • Provides clinical direction to staff in their role as senior staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for the management of high volume of patients, including those with complex problems or special needs in their area of specialty.
  • Provides coverage as needed in other facilities within the region if appropriate.
Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of full-time practice experience as a licensed speech language pathologist in a clinical setting required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Speech Language Pathologist curriculum with a bachelors, masters or Doctoral degree in speech therapy or foreign-trained equivalent required.
  • Speech Language Pathologist License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist Certificate (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire.
  • PECOS Enrollment within 1 month of hire.
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
  • National Provider Identifier.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaches speech therapy related health education classes.
  • Actively involved in supervision and orientation of volunteers within Speech Therapy Department.
  • Participates in community activities and member education at least 2 times per year.
