Job Summary:

Kearny Bank is seeking a skilled Mortgage Loan Processor to join our team. As a Mortgage Loan Processor, you will be responsible for processing 1st and 2nd mortgage loans in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loan Review and Processing: Review loans in process daily, prioritizing files according to mortgage contingency dates and rate lock expiration dates.
  • Document Verification: Perform a thorough review of income, credit, and asset documents to determine eligibility.
  • Communication and Follow-up: Initiate welcome calls and missing items letters within the designated Service Level Agreement (SLA) from receipt of the loan file.
  • Agency Income Calculations: Complete applicable agency income calculation forms accurately.
  • Service Orders: Order services required for the loan process, such as flood certification, appraisal, and automated underwriting.
  • Follow-up and Communication: Provide follow-up on a consistent basis with originators, borrowers, the closing department, and agents to complete processing.
  • Loan Status Updates: Respond to inquiries from originators, agents, the closing department, and borrowers regarding the status of loans in process.
  • Continuing History: Maintain an accurate and complete continuing history of the loan file via conversation log entries.
  • Re-disclosures: Re-disclose the loan in compliance with applicable changed circumstances.
  • Documentation and Organization: Gather various documentation deemed necessary by underwriting and organize/file appropriately for use by the department.
  • Correspondence: Send necessary documents, such as disclosures, revised disclosures, consumer explanation letters, commitment letters, and flood notices.
  • Process Coordination: Correspond with borrowers, loan officers, and underwriters to keep the process moving and resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Paperless File Maintenance: Maintain a complete paperless file through the loan origination software accurately.
  • File Status Updates: Maintain the status of all files in process and update as needed; keep abreast of all FHA, VA, and conventional guidelines and changes that may affect loan status.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Two to four years related experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Thorough working knowledge of real estate documentation, policies, compliance, and procedures; high level of proficiency with mortgage loan processing and underwriting systems; excellent written and oral communication skills; MS Office Suite proficiency; experience with Encompass preferred.
  • Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills.
