Job Title: Superconducting Circuit Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Superconducting Circuit Design Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our Microelectronics Designs and Applications (MDA) Business Area, you will be responsible for designing and developing custom, low-power, low-temperature, RF, quantum, analog, and mixed signal ASICs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop custom ASICs for emerging applications in low-temperature environments
  • Work closely with a broad array of scientists and engineers to make design solutions a reality
  • Utilize engineering and/or physics principles to complete curated tasks delegated by technical leadership during mask design cycles
  • Develop into a strong independent engineer/physicist, working closely with design leads
  • Learn superconducting, quantum, design, and RF EM simulation techniques
Requirements:
  • BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or a closely related field, with 2 years of experience or MS degree with 0 years of experience
  • Very strong attention to detail and organization
  • Expertise with Cadence Virtuoso
  • Expertise with solving DRC and LVS violations independently
  • Experience with 2D and 3D EM solving software such as ADS and HFSS
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, written, and oral communication skills
  • Able to collaborate with multiple team members and stakeholders to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to independently take concepts and derive action items to complete assigned tasks under general guidance
  • Willing to mentor newer designers
  • Able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of the IC design flow including schematic capture, simulation, and layout
  • An interest in superconductivity and advanced computing technology
  • Proficient use of Cadence Virtuoso
  • Experience with Python is a plus
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph
