Job Summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a highly skilled Plasma Processing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our plasma collection team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which may include unsuitable plasma units and samples.
  • Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by matching the pre-printed label with the dynamic label.
  • Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use a heat sealer to ensure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
  • Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation, and ensure samples and units are packed and shipped in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and immediately inform appropriate personnel if equipment is not functioning properly. Record any variances.
  • Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
  • Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promote safety in all actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
  • May be required to be bilingual, depending on the needs of the organization.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions. The ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines is also necessary. The role requires the ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation. The work environment is fast-paced with frequent interruptions, and the role requires occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds. The role also requires working overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
