Material Handler

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our team at Veolia North America. As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in the movement and handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials.

• Load and Unload Containers: Safely load and unload various size containers, including totes, drums, tankers, and trailers.
• Construct and Stack Containers: Construct boxes and/or fiber containers, stack, label, and load containers for processing at site or transportation to appropriate facilities.
• Operate Material Handling Equipment: Use a variety of tools, such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers, and other equipment as directed.
• Transport Hazardous Waste Materials: Transport hazardous waste materials from storage facilities within the facility as directed.
• Decontaminate and Dispose of Empty Drums: Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
• Complete Paperwork: Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for processing materials, including transportation of materials to and from various locations.
• Maintain a Clean and Safe Work Area: Perform general housekeeping duties and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Inspect Material Handling Equipment: Inspect material handling equipment as directed.
• Assist in Loading/Unloading Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste Materials: Assist in the loading/unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment for which you are appropriately trained.

• Education: High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
• Experience: Prior work experience of 3 to 6 months in the hazardous waste or chemical industry in a related position with proficiency in handling forklifts and a variety of tools preferred.
• Knowledge and Skills: Ability to communicate through reading and writing, trained in the use of material handling equipment.
• Certification/Licenses/Training: 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
