Director of Learning and Development

M.S. Walker is a family-owned wine and spirits importer and distributor, a spirits bottler, and a national supplier. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a visionary Director of Learning & Development to join us in building and leading our comprehensive learning programs from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a Strategic Vision: Create a roadmap for learning and development initiatives that align with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Identify Learning Needs: Analyze stakeholder consultations, surveys, and industry trends to understand the needs of our employees.
  • Design and Implement Programs: Develop comprehensive learning programs, including onboarding, leadership development, technical training, and soft skills development.
  • Facilitate New Hire Orientation: Lead and manage the orientation program for new employees, ensuring a smooth onboarding process and an introduction to the company's culture, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluate Program Effectiveness: Establish metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of learning programs.
  • Partner with Stakeholders: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of learning initiatives with business objectives and employee development goals.
  • Stay Current with Emerging Trends: Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and best practices in learning and development to innovate and enhance our programs continuously.
  • Champion a Culture of Learning: Promote engagement and participation in learning activities throughout the organization.
  • Customize Content: Develop content for several departments and deliver strategic and tactical solutions that support L&D strategy.
  • Lead M.S. Walker University: Champion the use of our Learning Management System (LMS), including administering the platform and stewardship of available content.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 7-10 years of progressive experience in learning and development with a proven track record of designing and implementing innovative programs that drive business results.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in HR, Education, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CPLP, PMP, SHRM-SCP) are a plus.
