Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Hopewell. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, investigating criminal activity, and ensuring the safety of the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to observe for violations of traffic laws and suspicious activities.
  • Respond to radio dispatches and follow up on calls and complaints.
  • Direct and/or monitor traffic, provide police escort, and investigate traffic accidents.
  • Serve warrants, make arrests, and testify in court.
  • Prepare call and complaint follow-up reports and various other reports on activities and assignments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in law enforcement.
  • Obtain Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification within one year, if not certified upon hire.
  • Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Working Conditions

As a Police Officer, you will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and extreme noise, odors, heights, and/or dangerous situations or people.
