Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Position

About the Position:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Oral Surgeon to provide high-quality care to Veterans at the Veterans HealthCare Medical Center. As an Oral Surgeon, you will be responsible for performing surgical procedures to treat various medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures.
- Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions.
- Accomplish admissions, work-up and performance of surgical procedures of patients presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions.
- Treat orthognathic deformities, and grafting procedures including harvesting of graft material consistent with the practice of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Provide safe and effective anesthesia services in the outpatient setting including intravenous sedation/general anesthesia (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified - ACLS).
- Manage medically complex patients, including inpatients and perform history and physical.
Requirements:
- Minimum of [2] years of experience as a Surgeon
- Proficient in surgical techniques and procedures
- Strong knowledge of medical principles, practices, and ethics
- Familiarity with medical equipment and instruments used in surgery
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and staff members
Work Schedule:
2 days a week; 8:00a to 4:30p

Education:
A degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Approved schools are (1) United States and Canadian schools of dentistry listed by the Commission on Dental Accreditation(CODA), in the list published for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia as qualifying for full and unrestricted licensure provided the licensure requirements include a written examination measuring science achievement and a performance examination measuring clinical competence certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant.
Completed, or you are currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients.
