Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Ellis Medicine. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide direct patient care, including routine floor work, emergency care, and arterial blood gas sampling. You will also be responsible for monitoring patient status, configuring assignments, and reallocating coverage as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care, including routine floor work, emergency care, and arterial blood gas sampling.
  • Monitors patient status, configures assignments, and reallocates coverage as needed.
  • Ensures seamless transition to oncoming shift by conveying timely and accurate report of patient status and related hospital activities.
  • Ensures care rendered by Respiratory Therapists is provided in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Provides orientation to new employees, serving as designated preceptor and completing department-specific orientation checklist.
  • Coordinates and participates in provision of in-services for Respiratory Care and Nursing staffs.
  • Works collaboratively with Lead Respiratory Therapist, Clinical Coordinator, Respiratory Care Manager, and Director on departmental performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with AAS in Respiratory Care.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy, both verbally and in writing.
  • Commitment to teamwork and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience with clinical instruction, preceptor, or teaching experience a plus.
