About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at Metro Paws Animal Hospital in Dallas. As a key member of our veterinary care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and delivering top-notch customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide concierge-style customer service to clients and their pets
  • Assist with room management and digital record-keeping
  • Handle patient restraint and administer medication as needed
  • Perform venipuncture, IVC placement, and digital radiology
  • Conduct in-house and outbound cytology and blood work, as well as dental prophylaxis and radiology
  • Provide peri-operative care and assist with tech appointments
  • Answer phone calls and assist clients with scheduling appointments and pet health questions
  • Interpret veterinarian orders and protocols to work autonomously and educate clients
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of small animal tech experience (current coursework may replace)
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology, supplies, and procedures
  • Confidence in your skillset and readiness to learn what you don't already know
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients, visitors, veterinarians, and hospital staff
  • Pleasant presence on the phone and great phone etiquette
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to work in a veterinary environment with exposure to infection or contagious diseases
Ideal Qualifications
  • RVT, LVT, CVT, or Pre-Vet certification a plus
  • Pets of your own (empathy vs. sympathy)
