Purchasing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Purchasing Specialist to join our team at John Paul Mitchell Systems. As a key member of our Purchasing team, you will be responsible for performing all activities and operations in purchasing, working closely with our team of Buyers to ensure timely delivery of quality products and materials.
Key Responsibilities- Research and select quality products and materials, arranging transport and tracking orders to ensure timely delivery
- Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make informed buying decisions
- Coordinate with inventory, management, marketing, creative, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless operations
- Assess the quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management
- Run MRP reports daily to analyze demand and plan purchases accordingly
- Plan and purchase all buys, as well as purchasing requisitions, and monitor and maintain open purchase order reports
- Expedite and/or cancel excess purchase orders, prepare change orders as needed, and forecast and plan yearly, quarterly, and monthly demands
- Update inventory levels and ensure stock is kept at optimal levels, quoting new and existing business as needed, and requesting samples as required
- Manage artwork and changes with suppliers, continuously looking for cost-saving methods, and maintaining vendor profiles in Microsoft Dynamics
- Build relationships with suppliers, negotiating for the best pricing and terms, and update management on order status
- Provide support to different departments as needed, pertaining to procurement
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills, with the ability to speak Spanish and/or Mandarin a plus
- High school diploma or GED required, with an Associates degree in a related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years in Purchasing role required, with 1 year's experience in Microsoft D365 preferred, and beauty industry experience highly preferred
- The expected hourly range for this position is $21.64-$26.45 per hour, with discretionary bonus plan eligibility based on personal performance and company results
