Job Summary

The State of Vermont is seeking a skilled Customer Service Representative to join the Unemployment Insurance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to claimants, resolving eligibility issues, and applying adjustments to individual cases as needed.

This is an in-office position, and the ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in stressful and sometimes emotional situations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and subsequent assessments of individual needs
  • Persuade claimants to accept referrals to Career Resource Centers for reemployment services
  • Investigate and resolve eligibility issues and apply adjustments to individual cases as needed
  • Train new staff and work on independent projects in special program claims work

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years or more of experience providing direct customer service in human services, employment services, unemployment compensation programs, or working in a Call Center
  • Minimum keyboarding (typing) accuracy of 75% at or above 20 words per minute
