Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automation Controls Specialist to join our team at The J. M. Smucker Company. In this role, you will provide automation support to our facility in the electrical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines.

You will work with electrical and mechanical maintenance, operations, safety, and QA personnel to help deliver our site's business objectives. Your technical skills will be utilized to contribute to the success of our team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design automation control systems, including reviewing specifications and standard practices
  • Install and provide technical support for PLC-based hardware and software
  • Troubleshoot and eliminate control systems issues and handle controls projects
  • Extend start-up support and training for control and monitoring systems
  • Execute wireless communication systems for manufacturing
  • Create system map layouts, sequence of operations, drawing packages, PLC logic, and HMI screens
  • Assist in installation oversight
  • Start-up and debug machines

Requirements
  • 1-3 years of industry experience working for a manufacturing company with electrical troubleshooting
  • 1-3 years of electrical experience in manufacturing
  • Knowledge of System Architecture, including non-standard material, control panel power requirements, and/or distribution
  • Ability to work with Allen Bradley logic software platforms
  • Additional skills and experience that would make someone successful in this role: Associate's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent relevant work experience, robotics experience, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing sites can be loud.
