Position Overview

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a crucial role in delivering anesthetic care in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals across all practice settings within the University of Maryland Medical System.

The responsibilities of the CRNA encompass the following key areas:

  • Pre-anesthetic Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations and preparations prior to anesthesia administration.
  • Anesthesia Administration: Oversee the induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia.
  • Post-anesthesia Care: Provide comprehensive care following anesthesia to ensure patient safety and recovery.
  • Clinical Support: Engage in peri-anesthetic and clinical support functions to enhance patient outcomes.

Work Schedule: Full-time position with 12-hour shifts from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

Education and Credentials:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program and a Master's degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
  • Current licensure from the Maryland State Board of Nurse Examiners for nursing and nurse anesthesia practice.
  • Certification or recertification from the National Board on Certification & Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
