Job Summary

The City of Salem Municipal Court is seeking a highly skilled Financial and Records Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our court operations team, you will be responsible for managing financial case reviews, issuing refunds for reduced or overpaid fines, and processing debt files to collect outstanding debt. You will also be responsible for coordinating with the Finance Department and Customer Service Center staff to ensure accurate and timely payment processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage financial case reviews and issue refunds for reduced or overpaid fines
  • Process debt files to collect outstanding debt
  • Coordinate with the Finance Department and Customer Service Center staff to ensure accurate and timely payment processing
  • Manage electronic and hardcopy records to support court operations and the legal process
  • Assess and provide copies of public records upon approved requests
  • Review records to complete redaction of information per policy
  • Respond to outside agencies for defendant and/or case information
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in a general clerical nature, involving high volume public contact, court-related work experience
  • Ability to multitask effectively and provide high-quality work
  • Experience with managing high volume calls and responding to individual's complaints and concerns
  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks and maintain accuracy in financial records and legal documents
