About the Role
Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization is seeking a skilled School-Based Physical Therapist to join our team. As a member of our multidisciplinary school team, you will assist in identifying students with physical disabilities and provide support to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Section 504 Plans. Your primary responsibility will be to provide therapeutic interventions that promote motor development, functional mobility, and safe access to educational programs.

Key Responsibilities
• Participate in IEP and team meetings to determine the need for physical therapy as a related service or reasonable accommodation.
• Gather relevant information from parents, students, and team members regarding students' functional motor performance in school settings.
• Conduct evaluations of students referred for services by selecting, administering, and interpreting various screening instruments and standardized measurement tools, identifying the need for physical therapy based on evaluation results.
• Formulate therapy plans for students, providing direct and indirect physical therapy in educational settings and coordinating physical therapy interventions within the school program.
• Offer recommendations on adaptive equipment and assistive technology to promote student mobility and ensure safety.
• Monitor student progress and adjust goals and interventions based on analysis of progress.
• Adapt school environments to facilitate student access and participation in educational programs.
• Provide information and instruction to staff and parents on assessments, recommendations, physical management, and equipment use.
• Work closely with classroom teachers and support staff to establish and maintain functional goals.
• Maintain necessary records, progress notes, and IEPs on students served according to NSSEO policies and Illinois Physical Therapy Practice Act.

Requirements
• Hold a current license from the State of Illinois, Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, to practice physical therapy.
• Be physically able to provide therapy to students aged 2-21.
• Possess pediatric and special education experience, with ability to communicate and interact with students, parents, and staff effectively.
• Have knowledge of typical and atypical motor development, philosophy, principles, and practices of physical therapy, specialized equipment, and current federal and state laws related to education of students with disabilities.
• Demonstrate flexibility, collaboration, and effective communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Salary and Benefits
