Job Summary:

MDI Hospital and Birch Bay Retirement Village seek a skilled Hospitalist Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join our medical staff. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our physicians to provide high-quality patient care within the scope of our Hospitalist service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Covering Inpatient, Observation, and Swing Bed services
  • Responding to Emergency Department calls for assistance
  • Providing care to patients, including monitoring their condition and preparing for successful transitions

Requirements:

Education, Training, or Certifications Required:

  • Current licensure and certification
  • Holds current DEA
  • BLS, ACLS required

Experience Required:

  • As defined in the Medical Staff Credentialing for AHP Hospitalist Privileges

Special Requirements:

Excellent communications skills, teamwork, and computer skills. Demonstrates ability to prioritize. Critical thinking skills.

Cognitive Requirements:

Emotional maturity and excellent communication skills required. Ability to work with distressed or anxious patients or family members. Ability to take in, process, and apply clinical information in a wide variety of patient care situations. Ability to learn new techniques and incorporate them into current practice. Ability to process and interpret complex information.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours per day, bend, stoop, twist, assist patients in rising from exam table, push wheelchair, and assist patients in rising from and returning to wheelchair.

Able to perform under stress.

Environment:

Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids. Potential for exposure to infectious diseases.
