Job Summary

The Cardiology Sonographer I is responsible for performing non-invasive cardiovascular procedures of adult echocardiography, adhering to unit and hospital policies and procedures. This role works closely with other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate an effective working knowledge of all equipment used in Cardiology and related to their job functions.
  • Demonstrate competency in arrhythmia interpretation.
  • Perform complete 2-dimensional, color flow, and Spectral Doppler exams according to protocol.
  • Notify physicians of any positive findings that need attention prior to patient's release.
  • Perform necessary equipment checks and QC procedure and reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Maintain adequate supply of materials for vascular lab.
  • Assist in scheduling of patients, work in additional patients, and make scheduling aware of cancellations or optimize examination availability.
  • Review and revise lab protocol to maintain a high level of efficiency.
  • Recommend changes to supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in an Ultrasound Technology education program.
  • One year of experience as a Sonographer or equivalent work experience.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiovascular Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
