The Role

Data Engineer, Business Intelligence Infrastructure

We're looking for a Data Engineer, Business Intelligence Infrastructure to join our team.



This role will oversee the infrastructure, pipelines, and security/compliance aspect of our internal analytics platform.



You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the data environment used by everyone at Klaviyo to measure the health of the business.



Key Responsibilities


  • Develop data models that power predictive recommendations, marketing attribution, and financial forecasts to support decision-making within the organization.
  • Work with petabyte scale databases optimized for business analytics.
  • Collaborate on a regular basis with the following teams at Klaviyo: Finance, Go-To-Market, Engineering, Customer Success, Support, Product, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Work with a team of data engineers and analysts to build a world-class, self-service data environment that everyone at the company can use.
  • Build cloud-native data infrastructure with a focus on security, scalability, and maintainability.


Requirements


  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies (AWS preferred).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling such as Terraform.
  • 3+ years of data development experience in SQL and 3+ years of experience in object-oriented programming languages (i.e. Python).
  • Experience in database design, 3NF, dimensional modeling, data vault, or star schema.
  • Experience with Big Data technologies (Snowflake, Databricks/Spark, Trino).
  • Experience ingesting data from REST APIs to a data warehouse or data lake.
  • Experience with automated testing, test-driven development, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Comfortable with massive amounts of semi-structured data.
  • Has knowledge of data engineering best practices (data discovery, data documentation, infrastructure development/deployment, and information security).
  • Experience working with docker and container orchestration services (ECS, Kubernetes).

About the Job
