Clinical Psychologist

The UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center is a renowned NCI designated cancer center with multidisciplinary medical specialties seen in the clinical practice. As a key member of the practice team with the Psycho-oncology service, the Clinical Psychologist position plays a vital role in providing psychological assessment, consultation, and intervention services to cancer patients and their families.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide expert psychological evaluation, consultation, and intervention services to cancer patients and their families. This involves working closely with the patient's providers and healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care. The work environment for this position involves interaction with many other practitioners within the Cancer Center, requiring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide psychological assessment, consultation, and intervention services to cancer patients and their families.
- Work closely with the patient's providers and healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care.
- Develop and implement treatment plans to address the psychological needs of cancer patients and their families.
- Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement process and adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
- Graduation from an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology.
- Expertise in psychological evaluations of adults.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a large multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple clinical activities simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated excellence in attendance and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with cancer patients.
- Experience in an academic environment.
- Experience facilitating support groups.
UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.
