About the Opportunity
SWCA Environmental Consultants is a 100% employee-owned firm providing a full-spectrum of environmental services. We are seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Biologist to join our team in Northern California as a Permitting Lead for natural resource management and aquatic permitting projects. This role will involve leading wetlands/waters and permitting teams, conducting quality assurance of wetland and natural resource studies, and managing complex project teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage interdisciplinary projects related to wetlands/waters and permitting.
  • Review wetland/waters permit applications and conduct Endangered Species Act consultations.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and restoration monitoring plans.
  • Lead jurisdictional delineation and natural resource technical assessment efforts.
  • Prepare and review technical documents, including wetland and waters delineation reports.
  • Supervise and mentor biological staff.
  • Serve as project manager or technical lead on resource management projects.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a biological science or closely related field.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in natural resource management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in environmental consulting or within agencies.
  • Minimum of five (5) years managing wetlands/waters and related projects.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, obtaining wetlands/waters permits, and consulting with regulatory agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Master's degree in a biological science or closely related field.
  • At least twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in natural resource management.
  • California Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM) training in one or more areas.

Salary:$114,660-$149,760 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
