Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at LaSalle Corrections. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and supporting the nursing department in their daily operations.

About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for assessing patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions within the healthcare unit and housing units as necessary. They will apply knowledge of available resources to obtain a health history and assess patients effectively. The role also involves providing written assessments of patients on admission, during confinement, and on discharge when requested.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will summarize assessment data and make triage decisions, which will be documented and communicated to other patient care providers. They will plan individual treatment programs and utilize available treatment protocols as written by the psychiatrist. Additionally, they will refer patients to appropriate providers when necessary and consult with nurses, physicians, correctional officers, and other staff members as required.

Responsibilities

- Assess patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions
- Apply knowledge of available resources to obtain a health history and assess patients effectively
- Provide written assessments of patients on admission, during confinement, and on discharge when requested
- Summarize assessment data and make triage decisions
- Plan individual treatment programs and utilize available treatment protocols
- Refer patients to appropriate providers when necessary
- Consult with nurses, physicians, correctional officers, and other staff members as required

Requirements

- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which they are practicing
- Current CPR certification required
- Good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; able to relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co-workers
- Prefer a minimum of two (2) years clinical experience

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $42 per hour, with shift differentials of $4 per hour for 6a-6p shifts and $8 per hour for 6p-6a shifts. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including equal opportunity employment and protected veterans/individuals with disabilities.
