Nurse Technician Opportunity for Nursing Students

About the RoleThis on-call, hourly position requires individuals who have completed at least one academic term of an accredited Registered Nurse program, with a clinical component, or are graduates awaiting results of the licensing exam. As a Nurse Technician, you will provide nursing care and support to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), adhering to the scope of practice.
Responsibilities- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, performing tasks such as assessing patient needs, inventorying and storing personal belongings, providing comfort items, and orienting patients and families.
- Document all clinical activities within the scope of practice.
- Observe and report changes in patient care to the RN.
- Collect, label, and transport various samples, including urine, stool, sputum, specimens, and blood products.
- Communicate effectively with the care team to develop an effective interdisciplinary plan of care, documenting relevant patient data according to unit standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Restock supplies and equipment as needed, identifying and reporting any issues.
- Pursue professional growth through seminars, workshops, and affiliations to stay up-to-date with industry trends.
- Adhere to safe work practices and policies to prevent injuries to yourself and others.
- You must be enrolled in good standing in an accredited Registered Nurse program and have completed at least one academic term with a clinical component, or be a recent graduate awaiting results of the licensing exam.
- You must be registered with the Washington State Department of Health as a Nursing Technician.
- You must possess current healthcare provider BLS certification.
As a Nurse Technician, you will demonstrate:
- Critical thinking skills: Seek resources for guidance, perform supervised problem-solving, and make logical and deliberate decisions.
- Accountability: Practice within legal and ethical guidelines.
- Competency in caring for patients across the age spectrum.
- Proficiency in using department-specific equipment.
