Main Purpose of Job

The Social Work Regional Supervisor, Criminal Justice is a key leadership position within the Department of Juvenile Services, responsible for providing expert clinical and therapeutic social work services in behavioral health. As a regional supervisor, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team, providing leadership and consultation to facilities and regions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign, review, and oversee behavioral health services completed by assigned supervised and mentored employees, ensuring they meet DJS and professional standards.
  • Provide leadership on assigned projects and participate in the development of behavioral health programming and policies in facilities or regions.
  • Complete comprehensive psychosocial and other Behavioral Health (BH) evaluations and clinical services for the most clinically demanding of youth, documenting per professional and agency standards.
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Determined by the State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.
  • Five years of experience providing clinical and therapeutic social work services through the application of the principles, methods, and procedures of professional social work, to clients requiring rehabilitative counseling or forensic social work services.
  • Eighteen months of experience completing assessments, formulating diagnostic impressions, treating mental disorders, and providing psychotherapy as a Certified Social Worker-Clinical.
  • One year of experience supervising lower-level Social Workers providing clinical and therapeutic social work to clients.
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience providing mental health treatment to youth and coordinating or leading an adolescent/youth-focused behavioral health team within the Criminal Justice field are preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

Employees are required to be licensed as a Certified Social Worker-Clinical by the State Board of Social Work Examiners for eighteen months prior to appointment to social work supervisor positions in State service.

Special Requirements

Employees must meet mandatory standards for continuing education as determined by the hiring department and complete an approved training program in group counseling techniques.
