Certified Pharmacy IV Technician

The IV Technician is a crucial member of our pharmacy team, responsible for preparing and distributing intravenous medications with precision and care. This role requires a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, inventory management, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Enter orders for intravenous medication in the pharmacy computer system, adhering to established policies and protocols.
- Maintain adequate inventory of medications, IV pumps, and supplies, ensuring timely replenishment and rotation.
- Perform monthly medication storage area inspections, identifying and replacing outdated or unusable drugs.
- Compound large-volume intravenous medications, small-volume admixture solutions, chemotherapeutic agents, and total parenteral nutrition solutions.
- Prepare intravenous medications for delivery in appropriate packaging systems, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the cleanroom and anteroom.
- Document environmental monitoring, compounding logs, and patient information sheets, ensuring accurate and timely filing.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
- Ability to work as a team member, demonstrating effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Basic understanding of computer technology and pharmacy practices.
- Aseptic technique and IV room training, with knowledge of Standard Precautions and USP 797 Guidelines.
- Strong mathematical computation skills and accurate typing skills (35 words per minute).
- 1 year experience in an IV room setting, preferred.
