Mission and Goals:

The Department of Surgery at VCU/VCU Health System is seeking a highly skilled transplant surgeon to join our team. As a faculty member, you will be responsible for providing excellence in clinical care, advancing science through research, and training undergraduate and graduate students in the field of transplantation. Our department fosters a professional environment that promotes the growth and development of our faculty, staff, and students. Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: You will have teaching responsibilities in all areas of transplant surgery, including clinical and research aspects.
  • Research: You will establish clinical research projects with a record of publication in refereed journals and external funding.
  • Service: You will serve on departmental and/or university committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in your field.
  • Clinical: You will be responsible for clinical duties, including deceased and living donor kidney and liver transplantation, and pancreas transplantation.

Qualifications:
  • Board certification/board eligibility in transplant surgery or equivalent.
  • ASTS fellowship training in multi-organ transplantation and procurement.
  • Able to meet licensing requirements in Virginia and be UNOS certified or eligible.
  • Prior experience teaching residents and medical students.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
