POSITION SUMMARY:

The Northwest Cary YMCA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Program Leader to join our team. As a Youth Program Leader, you will be responsible for leading and developing relationships with youth participants in the program, while ensuring a safe and fun environment for all.

This is a part-time position, typically working Monday through Friday from 6:45-9:00 a.m. at one of several school locations in the Northwest Cary area. The hourly base rate for this position is $11.00, with an additional $2.00 incentive pay when working in the Before School programs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children or teens, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Additionally, they will be able to create engaging and interactive program activities that align with the YMCA's mission and values.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and building relationships with a group of elementary and/or middle school students.
  • Implementing program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Creating an atmosphere that is fun, safe, friendly, and challenging.
  • Mentoring and modeling responsible behavior while leading children in the program.
  • Models and facilitates relationship-building skills in all interactions and maintains positive relationships with campers, parents, school staff, and other YMCA staff.
  • Ensuring that space and equipment used for the program is taken care of and left in good, clean condition daily.
  • Attending staff meetings and trainings.

Required qualifications include:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Previous experience working with children or teens preferred but not required.
  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor education, planning and organizing activities, crafts, songs/music, skits, sports, recreational games, etc.
  • Specific certifications and/or training may be required.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required.
Hourly Rate and Benefits:

The hourly base rate for this position is $11.00, with an additional $2.00 incentive pay when working in the Before School programs. Benefits include:
