About the Role:

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Comprehensive Medical Care: Oversee a shelter health program, conducting high-volume spay/neuter surgeries and other complex procedures. You will make critical decisions that save lives, from preventive care to emergency interventions.
  • Program Development: Develop and implement medical protocols that impact thousands of animals each year. Collaborate with veterinary staff, train new team members, and work with local institutions to advance shelter medicine.
  • Animal Welfare Champion: Support animal cruelty investigations with expert veterinary assessments and testimony, helping to ensure justice for animal victims and improve community safety.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide leadership and mentorship to veterinary technicians and support staff, fostering a culture of compassionate care while upholding high medical standards.
  • Community Outreach: Contribute to public health initiatives, manage community clinic programs, and build partnerships that enhance access to veterinary care within the region.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an accredited university
  • Active state license to practice veterinary medicine
  • DEA registration for controlled substances
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills for diagnosing and treating animals
  • Scientific aptitude and problem-solving abilities
