Sales and Business Development Manager

The Area Sales Manager serves as a key liaison between Sulzer USA Inc. and its customers, responsible for converting sales leads into orders. This role requires close collaboration with the tendering team to provide clear scopes, market pricing, competitor information, and customer feedback to enhance the accuracy and competitiveness of proposals. The territory assigned to this role is Beaumont to Lake Charles.
A successful Area Sales Manager will:
- Meet or exceed the assigned sales budget for the territory
- Externally promote Sulzer USA Inc. to the market assigned
- Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with Sulzer USA Inc.'s goals
- Provide complete, timely, and accurate quoting information for quote development
- Support the development of and deliver proposals to clients
- Follow up on all business activities/quotes to clients until closure
- Ensure accurate sales forecasts for the assigned area and accounts
- Review contracts and PO terms and conditions for assigned area accounts
- Manage and control all business expenses
- Maintain an accurate database on the central operational system consisting of:
- Sales and trip call reports
- Outage tracking and market condition events
- Competition updates
- Promotional and trade show events and follow-up information
- This role requires extensive travel into the assigned territory. If unable to accomplish this, the Area Sales Manager will be re-evaluated and reassigned or relieved of this responsibility.
- Proposal sign-off authority is granted by the Company Delegation of Authority
- Attend Trade Shows at the direction of the Regional Sales Manager
- Proactively engage and support company initiatives promoting a culture of safe working, environmental protection, and continual improvement
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent education and experience preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Proven experience in establishing a team environment
- Knowledge of Electro-Mechanical and Rotating Equipment acquired through 5 or more years of experience in the industry
- The ability to define problems, collect applicable data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Good computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software)
